One character shown in the clip from the soap coronation street is David platt who is presented as an aggressive and out of control teenager, the characteristics of of this stereotype is a aggressive teenager who is causing trouble in the street and vandalising others property, this reenforces the stereotype that teens are often out of control and cause lots of trouble he is also shown as unstable and out of control, in this example they have exaggerated this by the amount of damage and destruction David has caused, David is also shown as a male and is also presented as a strong and aggressive male. these stereotypes are shown very commonly in the news as teens are often shown as violent and causing lots of mayhem, and are often presented in a negative light. this representation is a reflection of reality as there are lots of aggressive and trouble causing teenagers but is not a 100 percent true reflection as not all teens behave in this manner.
The news article from the daily mail is one example of the negative stereotype the media has for teenagers, it shows they are shown as trouble causers and are shown in a negative light. this is the reason soap operas use the stereotypes so everyone understands the character due to the many stereotypes each character is given. it allows the audience to understand the characters immediately and know exactly what they are like.
