Hawaii Five O task

1. The crime drama genre is shown during the episode by the constant use of action scenes and the the use of violent weapons e.g guns and knifes lots of signifiers are used to re enforce male dominance and the male stereotype such as the action such as chases, violence and investigation and the props used such as guns and police cars and uniforms
2. Gender is shown as very equal in the episode as there is both male and females involved in the fighting and action scenes which creates equality and challenges the old representation of women in the media but re enforces the new stereotype that everyone is equal and helps creates equality for women.
3. Enigmas are used through out as lots of mystery is in the episode, one example of a enigma used is who the male character answers the phone two and what there talking about, another example of mystery created is when someone is kidnapped and taken into prison which creates lots of unanswered questions such as how he got there and who and why did it.
4. The program uses the narrative structure of using flashbacks and changing the order of when things occurred, one way is through starting with a scene then going back and showing what happened and what led up to the point and showing how it happened.
5. There is proof that the show is a series as it focuses on different stories per episode and often focuses on different characters per episode and shows there experience in different episode, there is also proof of the show been a serial as there is lots of ongoing stories and lots untold things happening which will continue in further episodes, there is also lots of references to things which have happened in the past e.g chins previous battles with other characters which you will only know if you have watched other episodes. meaning the show is both a series and serial as there is a different story per episode but lots of references to ongoing stories and previous episodes.
