Regulations in the Media
1.Regulation is very important in the media to ensure the media is not too biased and slanderous to avoid publishing false and incorrect information . its crucial to ensure the opinion is balanced and not causing problems by giving our biased opinions. It also protects individuals as they cant get there career and life ruined based on someone's opinion in the media which may be biased and incorrect.
2. In the last honour of Christopher Jefferies the news paper regulations was ineffective as they couldn't stop Christopher for being branded as a murder and getting many other harsh comments and accusations towards him through the media, they couldn't help him and he was blamed and his life was ruined by the false accusations made by various newspapers, there was no protection for him meaning his life was made very difficult when we was released from prison as everyone judged him based on the fake stories published by the media which painted him as a murder when in fact Christopher hadn't done anything wrong.
3. The IPSO website states "The press whilst free to be partisan, must distinguish between comment, conjecture and facts" this means the press must state if the comments that are facts or opinions, it means they are allowed to have there opinion but must balance the argument using facts and both sides of stories to avoid being sued for slander and getting in big trouble in court for giving biased opinions and not being subjective
4. Its crucial for the press to have a code of practise and regulations to avoid individuals having life and careers ruined and to help less problems being caused in society, this helps in society as it stops discrimination and helps individuals not have society turn against them based on false information published by the press. The code of practise the press follows is essential to protect individuals in society and ensure they are not having false information published about them ruining there life and career. The rules also help society run smoother and stops conflict as the press must have facts and evidence and must balance out there arguments meaning individuals are effected much less and society as a whole runs much smoother.
